The Mozambique Canada Maternal Health Project is very pleased to have Cristina Rus assume the duties of our long time administrator/finance officer Joanne Blythe who has recently retired after many years of service.

Cristina in her own words describes who she is, and what she hopes to bring to bring to the project.

“I’m very excited to commence my new position as the Administrative/ Financial Officer for the Mozambique-Canada Maternal Health Project in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology. I am a first generation Romanian, immigrated to Canada in 2007 and have called Canada my second home ever since.

I graduated with a BComm in accounting from the U of S in 2015. In the past 4 years, I have held various positions on campus, starting as a Journal Voucher Approver in the Controller’s Office. The most recent one was with the College of Veterinary Medicine as a Research Accountant. The work experience I have accumulated on campus has greatly prepared me with the necessary skills to take on this current role.

I am very excited to work alongside the project leaders here in Canada and Mozambique, and contribute to the goals of the project.

I strongly believe in the mission and vision of this project and it is very gratifying to be part of this team. I look  forward to learning more about our project in the province of Inhambane and witness the fruits of this project.”
